Soul Cravings
the laughter sparkling in your eyes...
the smell of your skin,
The slow warmth of your kiss
the safety in your embrace
no other has ever compared...
And slowly I realize
the predicament I am in...
Hope,
a small candle to light the way
amid this augmented darkness
as I slowly wander pathways strewn throughout my mind
visiting each memory of your presence,
taking in bit by bit everything that made each one special.
breathing in every scent, tasting every flavor as each initializes and fades,
smiling with each sound of your laughter
my eyes scanning each scene intently.
yearning for every glimpse of you...
longing to fill my hungered gaze.
Dark,
encroaching at the edges of my soul's light
A reminder I am without one who made me feel, "Home"...
longing for the sound of your voice...
the smell of you filling my lungs as I breathe you in
craving the touch of your hand on my skin,
each loss coalescing at the corners of my blurred vision
dissolving into slow drops sliding down my cheeks
where once your hand rested but for a fleeting moment,
the joy in your presence indelibly etched into memory.
until, bereft, I sit alone amidst the shells of scattered memories,
forever craving the touch of a kindred soul's light that once complemented my darkness...
